I was formerly called Cham Wai Shik(冤-earth) proprietor of the Chung Kwok newspaper. I have been living in Hong Kong for 8 years. I was well acquainted with the late Yeung Kui Wan. In August last I became acquainted with Kong Kung Hi. I was introduced to him by Mr Yeung Kui Wan. I did not see him when he came back after the rebellion in the 9th moon. At the latter end of the 9th moon—I cannot remember the exact date—the late Yeung Kui Wan told me as follows; "Some days ago Kong Kung Hi came to see me and said that Ng Lo Sam had sent Ngau Ying and I Tsai to call him to his house and that he had gone to see Ng Lo Sam at his house with them. At the beginning of the conversation Ng Lo Sam had threatened him because he had taken part in the rebellion in Wai Chau and said he would have him arrested, and that afterwards Ng Lo Sam had promised him that if he killed Yeung Kui Wan he would not only redeem all his guilt but would get $20,000 reward and be promoted to a military rank. Kong Kung Hi promised and had received $20 and came to see me and asked me to leave the colony. I do not pay much attention to this". He meant by the latter remark that he did not think Ng Lo Sam could hurt him in the colony.
